Bilingual Maternity Antenatal Classes

Bilingual antenatal birth preparation classes are now available to book for non-English speaking pregnant women.

Women who speak Bengali, Hindi, Punjabi, Romanian, Urdu, and Albanian can book themselves into these classes, with the support of interpreters, via the QR code in the leaflet below. These classes provide essential antenatal education, and will help provide the necessary information and support that you need for your birth journey.

Minuteful Kidney Service

The NHS has commissioned Healthy.io, as part of a national NHS programme, to deliver a service providing at-home urine test kits for patients at risk of chronic kidney disease. This will allow you to conduct this important test at home using a smartphone.

NHS e-Referral Service

You can now manage your referrals online: https://refer.nhs.uk/login

Patients can directly book, change and cancel their hospital appointments online without help from the GP surgery.

Minor Eye Care Service

The Minor Eye Care Service is covered by the NHS and is free to people living in the area. They can offer help for a number of eye related issues including: red eye, itchy eye, cataract assessment and much more. This service is currently offered at Rose Opticians in Gants Hill.

The optician will either call you for a virtual assessment on the day or will advise of alternate options.

Pharmacy First

Pharmacy First is a new advanced service which involves Pharmacists providing advice and NHS-funded treatment, where clinically appropriate for seven common conditions.

Pharmacists can offer clinical advice for a range of minor illnesses; if symptoms suggest it’s something more serious, pharmacists have the right training to make sure you get the help you need. For example they will tell you if you need to see a GP, nurse or other healthcare professional.

• Back-ache, sprains and strains

• Colds

• Coughs

• Conjunctivitis

• Constipation

• Diarrhoea

• Earache

• Haemorrhoids

• Hay fever

• Head lice

If you contact the surgery with any minor illnesses that can be assessed and treated more quickly by a local pharmacy, we can send an electronic referral to the pharmacy of your choice, who will then contact you for a consultation.

Wound Care

While it is not a requirement for the practice to provide a wound care clinic, our nurses are able to provide wound care where necessary. Alternatively, we also refer patients to the simple wound care service.

Simple wound care service

Simple wound care services are available to all patients over the age of 16 who are registered with a GP practice in Barking & Dagenham, Havering or Redbridge. The services support patients with managing wounds such as skin ulcers, first degree burns, post-surgical sutures, clips removal and routine dressings.

You can book online or by calling 07935 534 762. The phone line is open Monday to Friday from 12pm to 2:30pm, excluding weekends and bank holidays.
